WHAT WE DO

Tackling Violence And Building Stronger Communities Through Targeted Initiatives

THE DIFFERENCE

We’re not just addressing the symptoms of violence— we’re tackling its root causes.

By focusing on violence prevention, health equity, and community engagement, we’re creating lasting change in the Atlanta area. What sets us apart is our deep connection to the communities we serve. Our team’s firsthand experience allows us to understand the challenges we face and approach them with empathy, expertise, and urgency. Through our innovative programs, we’re not only helping individuals heal but also building a foundation for safer, more resilient neighborhoods.

Bedside

Immediate intervention at the hospital with a trained trauma-informed team that includes violence prevention professionals, clinicians, and peer mentors.

Clinic

Continuity of care through follow-up at a specialized outpatient trauma recovery clinic, where patients receive mental health support, navigation services, and connection to social determinants resources.

Community

Sustained engagement in the survivor’s neighborhood through trusted community partners, employment support, and peer mentorship to prevent re-injury and promote long-term recovery.

OUR PROGRAMS & INITIATIVES

How we do, what we do.

  • The IVYY Project (Interrupting Violence in Youth and Young Adults): A hospital-based violence intervention program (HVIP) that offers bedside crisis intervention, outpatient trauma recovery care, and community reintegration support. The IVYY Project has achieved re-injury rates below 3%, far surpassing national averages.

  • PeerRISE (Resilience, Inspiration, Support, Empowerment):
A survivor mentorship program that trains and employs individuals with lived experience of violence to support peers during recovery, empowering both mentor and mentee through shared healing.

  • These initiatives expose preschoolers, elementary students, and high schoolers, especially from underrepresented backgrounds, to healthcare careers through interactive play, immersive workshops, and mentorship by healthcare professionals.

  • CoSERV (Consortium of Southeastern Regional Violence Intervention Programs):
A regional coalition connecting hospital- and community-based programs across the Southeast to share best practices, align strategies, and advocate for region-specific policy change.

  • We support survivors in sharing their stories at legislative hearings, partner with local and state policymakers, and advocate for investments in trauma-informed infrastructure. Our team has been involved in shaping bills like Georgia House Bills 1 and 291.
